Saturday Pick 3: Week 11

When my friend told me his wedding was going to be at the height of Football season I said not a problem I’ll be there. Then he said it’s in Mexico, so my natural response was will there be WiFi? So far this trip has been a nice break from the normal weekly routine that I go through during the season, although getting packed, taking the pig to the farm, and not finding a direct flight altered my research slightly. But in the end, being far away from work, at a resort in a foreign country beats my everyday life, so there are no complaints from me. Also, finding a Casa del Habano in town is always a selling point for me. This may be an epic cigar shopping spree I’m about to go on!

New Mexico @ Air Force (-13)

These two teams have been disappointments, which is why this line seems too high to me. Neither teams defense has been good, and both offenses have have taken a step back from where they’ve been in the past few years. In fact, if you take away UNLV and FCS oppents from their schedule, they would have a combined two wins between them (Long Live the Mountain West!) That said, this game could be highly entertaining and I wouldn’t count out a 55-50 final score.

East Carolina @ Tulane (-11.5)

East Carolina might be one of the worst teams in FBS. I have them rated as a 17.3 (30 is average) putting them in the San Jose State/Georgia State/UNLV category, which if you haven’t watched any college football this year, that’s bad. They visit Tulane who is not as underwhelming, but also below the Mendoza Line per my ratings. But, we must take into account that this is the American Conference, and comparing these teams to the rest of the Power 5 isn’t fair, which makes Tulane a little more respectable. One concern I have is Tulane coming off the South Florida win last week, but the line has adjusted (down from 13.5) and I think this is the time to jump in.

Oregon @ Utah -4

Oregon got a nice pick me up against UCLA (who hasn’t this year?!?) last week after back to back road losses. Today, they go back on the road to face a Utah team that put up 40+ points in each game during the month of October. Last week at Arizona State they broke that streak as well as their 4 game winning streak. Oregon’s road struggles are the key factor in this one, that and the line.
